| Project Description The Thaddeus Stevens Society is seeking proposals for a metal statue of Thaddeus Stevens to be installed in Gettysburg, PA. A location is being sought. The proposal should be able to complete the statue, transport it and install it for $55,000. |
| Artwork Goals We wish that the statue be life size, i.e. 6 feet tall, if possible within the budget. The pose should illustrate some aspect of Steven's personality such as his dedication of equality and education. |
| Artwork Location Description The location of the statue has not been identified. We expect it to be within the town of Gettysburg. We hope to find a location by the end of 2019. |

| Eligibility We are seeking sculptors who have done at least one large human statue and can provide examples. |

Artists applying as a team must split the allotted number of work examples between themselves. |
| Selection Information |
| Selection Process After the proposals are received, the selection committee will evaluate the submissions and make a decision sometime after the middle of 2019. Artists will be contacted for further information depending on the needs of the committee. |
| Selection Criteria 1. Statue should be life size, i.e. about 6 feet tall since that was Stevens height. A smaller size will be considered if it is necessary to fit in the budget. 2. Made of metal. The type of metal will be to the sculptor 3. Should be cast, transported and installed for approximately $55,000. 4. The statue should provide space for listing a couple of dozen donors. 5. Assuming award is made by the end of 2019, the statue must be completed by March 2022, which is a month before Stevens's 230th birthday. 6. The statue should reflect some aspect of Stevens's accomplishments such as equality and/or education 7. List qualifications of sculptor and past projects. |
