Project Description This is a commissioning of new mural work by Civic Icon Arts and Colen Built Development for its new development, Calesa Township. The mural work must cover the entire inside of pedestrian Tunnel #1. The size of the tunnel is 120’ in length, and 8’ in height. The substrate is uncoated concrete. The project must also include community engagement and local youth in some portion of the artwork installation. |
Artwork Goals The goal of the project is to create a meaningful work of Public Art that welcomes residents and visitors as they pass through pedestrian Tunnel #1. The artwork should be unique and engaging for pedestrians and reflective of the site and developer’s history and goals. Calesa Township will be a welcoming mix of spacious single-family homes where neighbors and friends come together as community. Calesa Township will be fun, fitness-oriented family living. |
Artwork Location Description Calesa Township is located at SW 80th St, Ocala, FL 34476. Tunnel #1 is located underneath the public spine road that runs through the entire community. The design of Calesa Township is pedestrian friendly and the well-placed connective tunnels are designed to minimize the interaction of foot-travelers and bikers with cars on the road. This site is still under construction. Please do not visit the site without authorization. |
