Project Description Fulton County Arts & Culture (FCAC) and the City of Johns Creek (CJC) invite experienced professional artists or artist teams (i.e. more than one artist or artist and fabricator) to submit qualifications to create an iconic and site-specific sculpture using steel recycled from the historic Rogers Bridge . The bridge has been removed and dismantled City's of Johns Creek and Duluth have each been provided with between 5 and 7 tones of steel with sizes ranging from 8’ to 20’ in length. Although additional materials may be used, it is expected that the majority of source materials used for the art will be derived from the original bridge materials. We encourage artists to be inspired by the symbolism of the bridge connecting communities and linking the past, present, and future. A second point of inspiration is the Chattahoochee River which connects communities throughout Fulton County and, more broadly, the role of water as the basis of sustaining life. The sculpture should also seek to highlight the unique design and structural elements as well as the historical importance of the Rogers Bridge as part of a broader network of bridges that once crossed the Chattahoochee. |
