This one-of-a-kind center will deliver comprehensive care, supportive services and clinical trial opportunities all within one space for patients and their caregivers affected by dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. |
| Budget Description The budget for this project is $50,000.00. All purchased artworks are to be delivered to the Center for Brain Health at UT Health San Antonio. Artwork being purchased must be ready to hang. The purchase price must include all costs, such as framing or finishing, shipping, and delivery. |
| Project Description All artwork must be safe to touch, sturdy, and made of non-toxic materials. Both existing and commissioned artwork will be considered. Please note that any commissioned work would need to be complete and installed by December 2025. |

| Site History The Center for Brain Health will spearhead transformative research and provide innovative expert care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, movement disorders, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other complex health challenges. With its unique combination of 75 exam rooms, a 12-chair non-oncology infusion center, an outpatient pharmacy, and dedicated meditation, art and music rooms, the Center for Brain Health stands out as a comprehensive facility designed to meet the range of needs of our patients and their families all under one roof. Psychologists, radiologists and other professionals will work closely together at the center and align with the neighboring extensive outpatient practice at UT Health San Antonio’s Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC). This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive care, with patients and families able to see a neurologist in the Center for Brain Health and then pass through an enclosed walkway to the MARC for appointments with a cardiologist, nephrologist or other specialist as needed. Designed services include advanced clinical and research imaging by the region’s most powerful 7-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system and a positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET-CT) system. The 7-Tesla MRI system will provide high-resolution images to inform diagnoses, treatment and research. Other clinical services will include phlebotomy, radiology, electrodiagnostic studies for evaluating neuromuscular disorders and electroencephalography (EEG) to assist with diagnosing and treating epilepsy. |
| Eligibility The project is open to all artists and artist teams in Texas. Both emerging and established artists are welcome to apply. Galleries are also encouraged to submit entries. Artists are allowed to apply in teams. Artists applying as a team must split the allotted number of work examples between and among themselves. |

| Selection Process The Center for Brain Health Art Steering Committee will review applications received through this general RFP. Artworks will be evaluated based on artistic and technical merit. |
| Timeline The following schedule is preliminary and subject to change. Our calls are rolling, and work will be received with our committee . • September–November 2025: Announcement of selected pieces. • November 2025: Installation of selected artwork. • December 2025: Opening of the Center for Brain Health. |
