| Call Summary This open call for qualifications will result in three artists being invited to develop proposals for an exterior mosaic mural at Palm Springs International Airport. The surface for the mural includes the following: approximately 650 sq ft for the main walls and attached partitions. There is opportunity to expand onto the ceiling for an additional 200 sq ft and the opportunity to expand onto the ground plane in front of the main wall for an additional 300 sq ft. The tile mosaic mural is intended to be a long-term installation, with a minimum expected lifespan of 20 years. |

| Budget Description From this Open Call, three artists will be invited to develop commissioned proposals and compensated $1,000. Awarded Budget: $70,000 Total budget to the awarded artist is comprehensive. All artist costs are to be allocated within this total amount, including materials, travel, lodging, artist fee, sub-contractor fees, insurance, and any other expenses incurred in the creation and installation of the work. The artist is required to attend the unveiling event and cover their costs of attendance from their awarded funds.The PSP Art Program will be covering the costs of the unveiling ceremony itself. |

| Project Description This open call for qualifications will result in three artists being invited to develop proposals for an exterior tile mosaic mural at Palm Springs International Airport. The tile mural will be in a highly visible area and will be experienced from a variety of vantage points and distances. Artists should have demonstrated experience creating and implementing outdoor tile mosaic murals, preferably in a climate similar to Palm Springs, CA. The goal of the mural is: Primarily: Enhance passenger experience in the terminal. Secondarily: Enhance the working environment of airport staff. Size is roughly 650 sq ft with an additional 500 sq ft of optional area to expand. The artist awarded the commission will be fully responsible for the installation of the mural onsite and will be required to meet all airport regulations for safety and scheduling during installation. This will require conforming to approved installation days and potentially working outside of standard airport operating hours. |

| Eligibility Must be living and working in the United States. Must have evidence of successfully completing a public art project with a budget over $15,000. Preference will be given to artists with experience creating and installing tile mosaic murals and/or artists who have existing relationships with a reputable fabricator. Submissions must include documentation of previously completed and installed works. Submissions to this Open Call containing developed proposals for a different mural at the airport are unsolicited and the application will be disqualified. Do not submit a proposal for an unrelated new mural at the airport. From this call, three selected artists will be provided additional details and specifications in the commissioning of developed proposals for this opportunity. Additionally, artists must be onsite for installation of the work and are required to work during approved days and hours, potentially outside of standard airport operating hours. To obtain mandatory security badges for unescorted access to restricted airport areas, artists and team members must successfully complete a federal Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA). |

(40%) Conceptual Versatility: Past work shows strong conceptual responsiveness across a variety of compositions. Does not rely on a single, rigid formula. (20%) Scale & Experience: Past work demonstrates experience managing projects of similar square footage, budgets, and physical complexity. |

| Timeline The expected timeline is as follows Open Call for Qualifications Approved and Posted. 4 Weeks - Open Call will remain open. 1 Week - Committee review of shortlisted artists. 2 Weeks - Invited artists informed and contracts executed. Alternate artists informed.
