| Project Description CURATORIAL VISION Feast for the Ears For the fourth iteration of The Commons 5 Artists 5 Spaces, sound will be the primary focus. You do not need to be a sound artist to be considered for this project, nor is sound the primary medium. If selected, we are asking that you incorporate an audio component, either by creating a structure that holds sound or symbolizes sound. We encourage installations that invite collective listening, whether through quiet meditation, drawing attention to nature, or fostering an awareness of the existing soundscape present in public space. The visual realization of each artwork should bring awareness to the sensory experience of listening. Five multidisciplinary artists will be commissioned to create temporary public artworks centered on the theme Feast for the Ears, which brings a heightened art experience to the public as the artworks shift from not only seeing but also listening. NOTE: Sound-producing elements may be limited by the approved site. Cordless or self-powered work is encouraged and based on a safety assessment. For some sites, sound elements may not be permitted. |
