ART SQUARE

THIS CALL HAS CLOSED.

Budget: $15,000
Activated: 07/15/2016
Deadline: 08/31/2016

Call Summary
Northwood Village Art Square is a new, exciting, outdoor art show happening on the West End of Northwood Village. The West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will have access to a chain link fence enclosure, approximately 300 linear feet long and 6 feet high at the corner of Northwood Road and Broadway. This “SQUARE” will be available for our creative use for approximately 24 months. The CRA is now accepting responses to this Request for Proposals from regional artists interested in creating a one-of-a-kind, temporary installation at Art Square.

Budget Description
Two projects will be awarded. EACH project has a budget of $15,000.00. That Budget will include: Artist Fee, Design, Materials, Installation, Maintenance of Artwork for 12 month duration, De-Installation

Project Description
“From Gas Station to Art Installation” The concept of Art Square came about because right on the “square” there used to be a gas station. Consequently, there is a fuel detoxification procedure that needs to happen before this square of land can be redeveloped. During this mitigation process, the area will be surrounded on all sides by a large fence…….a large, empty fence……..the perfect place for innovative, unique, temporary art installations. Voila! Art Square!
Installations need to tell a story - the heritage, culture, lifestyle, history, people, events – of the North End of the City of West Palm Beach. Northwood Village, Pleasant City, Northwood Neighborhoods, Broadway, Industrial, Currie Park ……..
We want the feeling, the spirit, the unique identity and inspiration of the PLACE!!

Artwork Goals
This community-activated endeavor continues to promote Northwood Village as an art-centric enclave for artistic and creative cultivation, highlights Florida regional artists, encourages civic engagement, beautifies public spaces and enriches the community.
